Are you ready for winter?

I was wondering are you ready for winter yet?

And just to make this thread a little more interesting describe what winter is like in your area.

K here is what it is like here.

we usually get ALOT of snow and it is really cool the snow gets to like a couple feet deep on average years on good years it gets like 3 or 4 feet deep. last year was a bad year at most a foot of snow

. It get pretty cold here usually averaging in the 10's and lower 20's on good years. last year nope we didn't get snow untill like the middle of december

. the last couple of years have been bad. It has been prety warm for winter. A couple years ago flowers where blooming in november!!!!! I hope this year has a good winter

. Well that is what I remember about winter. What is it like in your area?

Yes for three reasons.

1) I can finally experience some weather other than marine layer and sunshine here.

2) I can track noreasters and laugh at people on the East Coast who have to dig out of 6' slowdrifts (J/K, but I like to track any type of weather including noreasters).

3) I can look forward to spring and the arrival of tornado season!!!!

EDIT: Will add another reason, two weeks off for Christmas and New Year's.

You better believe it...

This will be my first winter here in Worcester (spent a few summers here) and I'm expecting BIG THINGS. Definitely not anticipating a repeat of the 94-95 winter or something like that. I've lived the Pioneer Valley life...yeah, I've seen my share down there. But I want to experience the GOODS that only this place can deliver.

I just moved from Eastern Lake Ontario, one of the snow capitols of the US, to North Carolina. For some reason I'm not expecting much this year... :cry:

What part of N.C.???---------The Piedmont area will see more than the coast,and of course the Mts. will see the most...But believe it or not we do see some heavy snows at time, not like Canada, but it does get nasty down here, ice is our biggest culprit.......Yuck!!!

I'm in Fayetteville now. I lived here before; I believe I left 7 years ago. I can remember an ice storm we hadd where we lost power for a couple of days, but strangely the nearby hotels had no problems with their power. :lol:

I just bought a new snowboard earlier this year, before I knew that I was coming down here. I'm going to miss having a ski area, albiet a small one, 5 minutes from my house!

I'm getting there...I'm one that likes all of the seasons, although, I'm getting tired of Summer. It seems like it's been hot for a long time this year. But, I'm really looking forward to autumn. It won't be too long. And then I'll be ready for Winter.

You are so right Sean, I am SOOOOO sick of this heat. And you're also right in that we've had heatwaves before, but this is the first time I remember it being hot for an extended period -- temps north of 95 degrees and heat indices north of 100, if you know what I mean....

P.S. 101 was our high here in good ole Reserve...since I kept records there's only been one day hotter and that was a 102 sometime in July.

Then you should move to marquette, MI. They have the 4th coldest Average temp (39.2F(4.0C) and the second snowiest city there mean annual snow fall is 129.2" (3,282 mm)

if you ar wondering how I got that info (I'm cheating lol) I have a book in front of me lol

NO! I am not ready for winter yet. We had a lousy summer last year, and I am really enjoying the hot weather this year! I don't want the kids to go back to school yet. And my most important reason, I don't want winter to hit until soccer season ends. It gets awfully cold watching 3 games every Sunday when winter gets here too soon!

HOWEVER, when soccer ends.....then I am happy to see winter in all of its glory. Yes, wxman_91 that includes the nor'easters! I enjoy shoveling out of whatever mother nature brings our way! Winter is one of the most beautiful times of the year!

I'm always ready for winter!!! This has been an awfully hot and very dry summer. We're in a major draught here in the Ohio Valley. When it's like this, I joke I'd rather be shoveling snow. I pull that one out to shock people. And shock them I do!!! Suddenly, they're no longer grumbling about hot temps, high humidity, and I'm smiling, picturing a snowy scene!

I should just move to Alaska....LOL

Last winter was the first time I actually had a winter car kit. I need to resupply the vehicle with night sticks and I really need to get some of those devices used to get vehicles out of snow (they go under the tires). Once I get those, the vehicle kit will be done.

For the home, I recently had a wood insert placed into my existing fireplace. Should heat most of the house. I am looking for wood right now. Hopefully it will help with keeping natural gas heating bills in check.

We have prepared well in advance. We have been stocking up on non-parishable food items for major snowstorms, we bought a generator, got the car winter kit ready. Snow season sometimes begins in October so bring it on! I love winter.

Man I cant wait usaully we see out first snow around my neck of the woods in October so its a month away!!!!!!!!!!!!!. November till the cold gets here. Being out west I am expecting a great year.

I wish I could change my answer to Heck ya!

I am so sick of 80+ temps. Been going on for weeks now. We were close to 100 this summer a few times, many days in the mid 90s. Cincinnati sits in a valley, with many hills surrounding this area. Air gets trapped and stagnant without summer storms to clear it out. Add to the high temps that we had very little precip and I am more than ready to shovel snow.

I just love pulling that comment out when people say this has been a long, hot and dry summer. I just say it had better snow this winter! I'd much rather be shoveling snow. It shuts them right up.

But what they don't understand is this - I am being 100% truthful! I just love snow...... he he.
