FL hurricane strikes by region

I found this graph on the NHC website and thought it was interesting. I had no idea that since 1851 more hurricanes in total have hit northwest florida than southeast florida. There have been more major canes in SE FL though. Strike numbers are listed by category, by total, and by major storms. Very suprising to me.

Well that's easy to explain.

SE FL - CV storms which only occur from Aug-Sep. Examples: Andrew and Cleo.

NW FL - CV, GOM, and Carib. storms all have the ability to impact. Examples: CV - Ivan, GOM - Opal, Carib. - Dennis.
