based upon visible imagery, there is some chance that recon could be cancelled

I was gonna say...they are on their way. I would have been surprised if they would have cancelled. I think we have some idea what they will find. A weak center, with TD force winds. Not like it's an open wave.

wow I didnt think they would leave so early. Oh well that means we will get the information sooner. Should put most of us out of our misery regarding it really being a TD or not.

They are flying much earlier than what POD said it was supposed to be in the afternoon.

How can it be at 25.3 N and 80.3 W? Is this an old recon for another storm?

POD had take-off scheduled for 12Z... 8 AM ... when the storm is at 60 ° W and you are west of 80° , you have to leave early to get there at 2 PM... last ob put them about 1200 miles away, which is about 4 hours of flight time.

Note the mission number... this is the recon mission scheduled in the POD

On the issue of St Croix... maybe they've felt burnt by how things have played out when they've pre-positioned a plane there. They flew one out there in advance of Invest 93 (I think), which fizzled the moment it entered the Caribbean.
