Eastern Atlantic Tropical Summary - EATS OUT on August 19,2005

<img src="http://www.diamondheadweather.com/eats20050819.jpg">

Yes, the SAL continues to be the dominant feature in most of the tropical Atlantic.

One wave near 30W is moving west and should not develop any time soon.

There is an area of disturbed weather moving off the African coast, and
another well inland over Africa that is moving west, and models suggest
that these may develop in the next few days.

I'll believe it when I see it.

I do not expect tropical cyclone development in the next 72 hours in the
Eastern Atlantic.

Looks like a large, moist area moving off of Africa behind that last burst of SAL. Maybe the E Atlantic is returning to a moist (and active?) period here soon.

Yeah. The more waves that come off Africa even if they are small, they can moisten up the environment in their path and making it more favorable for future waves to have a chance at developing.

This year probably because of SAL we haven't had what I would call, a truly Cape Verde system, or those that form around 25 W right near the Cape Verde Islands.
