Ever since Isaac and Ishmael....

Do you think the arabs are descended from Ishmael? For real? And do you think occupants from a thousand years ago should be allowed to retake a nation? I do not. And I accept the existance of Israel only because the world community has seen it fit to reward the conquerors of a nation with a homeland and given them legitimacy. Its completely amoral, and has everything to do with politics. The jews felt they needed (and they probably do) their own nation to protect themselves from outward aggression after the holocaust. So they stole Palestinian land. It is that. That is all. End of discussion. The jews did not have a state there since Cyrus gave them permission to come back home. Give or take a few upstart rebellions.

I won't deny their right to exist, because as it has been said we stole this continent. What is true is you cannot divide people into good and bad, because quite frankly all people believe that they are good, and most act in according with their own logic. Yours is based on a dusty book, mine is based on realistic views of the world community as I percieve it, and the Palestinians view it with the same view as all people everywhere : they love their country. And they are willing to pay any price to protect their land.

I would bear any cost to protect my family from having to fly any other flag than ours. I would not blow myself up, but I would surely kill anyone else who flew a flag other than ours in my neighborhood and took away my right to govern myself. Thats how I feel emotionally about this whole bit. It does not give legitimacy to the killing of civilians. But to say the Jews deserve land, well its not your land to give out in the first place.

Not all Arabs hate Israelis. Not all Arabs are butchers. Please dont pigeon hole entire groups of people like that. There are LOTS of Arabs who live in Israel and are fine. Someone made a comment about two countries armed to the teeth fighting for land and power. They're fighting for SURVIVAL. Has anyone else here actually been to Israel and seen what goes on there? Dont take what you see on the news and read in the papers as the only examples of day to day life there. That would be like someone from another country reading any paper here; they'd be scared to death!!! Israel is a wonderful place with wonderful people who are Israelis AND Arabs.

I'm not crazy about the idea of moving people out of Gaza, but it is the only thing that shows interest in the peace process.

You have to have land and power to survive. That's what I meant. 8-)
