It seems like the past few weeks there have been a lot of unneccesary threads of people asking for information (which is fine and encouraged) but fail to take 5 seconds and do a simple search.

Also another excellent tool is Google (or any other search engine).

I want to echo these remarks. It's amazing how many times the same questions have popped up over and over again. Not that we, as a collective forum, don't mind answering these questions, but ponder this: would you rather post on a message board and wait a while for a reply or go to google and type in a few words and get an instant reply?

For the most part, whenever these standard questions pop up, the answers that are provided here usually come from a google search as well. Why not cut out the middle man and do the search yourself?

No, it's not hard to miss. If you see a post in a thread that's just a few words long, skip it. You are telling people of few words to not bother to post. Do people post just to raise their ranking? Some do, absolutely. However, you should be complaining about the ranking system - not the users.

As long as there is a ranking system based on number of posts, people will do it. The ranking system encourages it. As has been said by a few in the past - people need to stop being so hypersensitive about things.

The experts here are great as are many of the amateurs. We need to stop dictating to people how and what to post.

I think DoctorHurricane2003 has made a excellent statement, I know compared to last year that the amount of bickering has increased dramatically. This site should be enjoyed by all young and old alike,I just hope that the members who are joining this year that want to learn do not leave because of the immature postings.

See you don't even know what I'm saying.

For those who post bovine fecal matter....over and over again...that's annoying....and usually it is in the form of these short-worded posts such as THIS SEASON IS OVER. Bovine fecal matter = posts with no scientific reasoning whatsoever, posts that sensationalize, and posters that try to get a rise out of people. This practice needs to END period. If people aren't mature enough to handle the level of discussion on this board, then they should not be posting at all.

Now if you want to come here to learn something, that's fine...but refrain from posting bovine fecal matter. Its posts such as this that led to the decline of the TWC boards and others. If it gets too tough to handle it, maybe the mods can separate this forum into an Amateur Forecasting forum and a General Amateur Analysis Forum so it would be easier to weed out the bovine fecal matter.

Trust me. We handle situations with a quickness. If you ever have a problem...pm one of us. We can't read every post 24/7 ..though we do our best to. Rudeness will not be tolerated on S2K. Plain and clear cut simple.

Trust me I do not envy what you do, the volume of postings that you review is tremendous. I think that all the members of S2K really do appreciate your efforts, although you may not get the the thank you's, that you really deserve.

This type of post is just as disrespectful and annoying as non-substantive posts. Doc, you act as if us posters that are not experienced or skilled in weather forecasting and analysis are some how inferior. So what if someone posts short and contrite statements. As long as they are not disrespectful to anyone...WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL. Ignore them, and move on!!

fwbbreeze...

I never said that, and that is another thing that is annoying on this board...people putting words in other's mouths.

The people who do not know as much about weather come here to learn, which is a good thing. This is a great place to learn more about tropical cyclones, etc.

The problem is a select few who find it acceptable to post sensationalist drama or unfounded, non-scientific data/forecasts/bold statements without presenting evidence.

Hey if ya got an issue take it up with the admins and moderators...but dont dictate and lecture other posters, let the folks who run this board handle it if they feel something needs to change!!

DEVELOPMENT ALERT!!! issued for se coast

The following post is NOT an official forecast and should not be used as such. It is just the opinion of the poster and may or may not be backed by sound meteorological data. It is NOT endorsed by any professional institution including storm2k.org For Official Information please refer to the NHC and NWS products.

with the huge high building over the northeast i expect a good chance of tropical development off the se coast after the weekend. remain vigilant at all times!!

I have a question I just read this post and I did respond as I had a question. I thought about your thread and I am curious. I asked what the poster was looking at EX TD 10 or the convection off the SE coast. After that I thought that with no more information than was posted what is the development that I must be vigilant of. My question is this, and not to the Doctor is this sensationalism or someone trying to get attention. Please understand I am not faulting the poster I am just curious how the members and the MOD's see this.

I've never seen so much bickering in my life!!
Some of us need to learn the meaning of ‘‘tolerance’’.
If the tropics don't start getting active soon, well all be at each others' throats. :) :)

I think the Mods are awesome on here but I think you must choose your battles. I think the statement above is much more offensive than someone who says "The season is dead"

My opinion. Carry on. :D

Rainband- I may be wrong but I think they were referring to the use of Jesus Christ being offense in its use.

Rainband I hope you will forgive me, But I posted that reply to show the other members what the Doctor is trying to say about misleading subjects, I live on the South East coast and take a very serious interest about what may or not be developing. The issue of the repetitiveness of phrases I do not know how to show as an example, however I feel that as more is said about it, as I have seen in the last two weeks the more I feel the members will begin to understand.
