We are a very small parish---3 different schools affected:

Very sad story, indeed. I pray for their families to get thru this terrible tragedy.

We lost five teens in one week back in my home county in Illinois...just a week before our county fair. There is never anything anyone can say to make it better. Sorry to hear of the losses. Each has friends and a family who will remember this day always.

I lost some good friends (like brothers to me) when I was in high school, in an accident involving alcohol also, it still hurts to think about it, even though it has been 25 years. My heart goes out to their families and friends.

I went tubing on the Bogue Chitto River last summer. The roads to the river are all two lane and there are alot of dangerous curves. This is a very sad and avoidable tragedy. Prayers going out to all involved.

The grandfather of one of the 16 yr old girls that was killed is a patient of mine where I work. He called me today and was crying when he told me the news. It is devastating. He is also the grandfather to the 15 yr old girl that was critically injured, her sister died. He told me that they were to start school today :( The 15 yr old has multiple injuries including some serious head injuries and it is still too early to know what her prognosis will be. I pray for these families, it is such a senseless tragedy and it just goes to show you how deadly alcohol can be when put into the hands of someone who is does not know how to be responsible. Through this tragedy I hope it opens the eyes of some other teenagers, so they won't make the same fatal mistakes. God Bless them all!!!

:( That's reminiscent of the car accident my co-worker's daughter had that killed her, her two friends riding with her and two older women in another car on July 3. They were about the same age as those girls in your parish. They were on their way to go tubing as well...

My prayers go out to those girls and their families.
