Viewer alert: Inside 9/11 tonight on NGC

#1 Postby Brent » Mon Aug 22, 2005 11:45 am

Part 1 aired last night(which was probably the best documentary I've ever seen) and re-airs tonight at 7pm EDT and shows the beginnings of Al-Qaeda and Bin Laden through the first WTC bombing, the Embassy bombings, the whole hatching of the 9/11 plot, detailed movements of the hijackers and everything in between. Part 1 ended with the hijackers on the night of September 10th making final preparations for the next morning, and Part 2, tonight at 9pm EDT will show that horrible day... http://nationalgeographic.com/channel/i ... eview.html They are showing it with very few commericals.

Last year I finally bought a copy of the 9/11 report.. Yesterday I finally started reading it lol..

Powerful stuff though  Stories of the hijackers, and of the "Lets' Roll" thing that unfolded on the flight bound for the possibly the White House..

I can't believe it's been almost 4 years

Part 1 re-airs tonight at 7pm EDT... 6pm CDT before Part 2 starts, and then both parts re-air a bunch of times between now and 9/11, so you've got plenty of chances to catch it.

Speaking of "Let's Roll," they've made yet another movie about flight 93. http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0470764/combined There was a previous one also, but I don't remember ever seeing it or hearing about it actually airing.

Oliver Stone (that means it will be historically accurate) and Nick Cage are also working on a 9/11 movie, about two PA cops trapped in the rubble at Ground Zero. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0469641/combined

Re-watching Part 1 right now...

Does it not give anyone else chills that the most powerful nation on earth could not prevent such a massive plot? These hijackers were LIVING AMONG US.

Oh and this garbage about not wanting to kill OBL because a UAE prince was next to him... whoopdee freaking doo. Because of that dumb decision, the WTC was reduced to a pile of rubble killing 2,800 people.

Well, hindsight is 20/20. We can't change the past. We can only learn from it with the hopes of preventing future acts of terror. I don't think we will be able to, at least not all of them, and sometimes that keeps me up at night. However, I'm confident that the President, his administration, the military, and the first responders are doing everything in their power to make things safer for us.

You're welcome Kelly. 102 Minutes was a book I could not put down. I read it in 2 or 3 days. And in between reads, 9/11 weighed heavily on my mind. Just imagining the terror everyone experienced as they worked their way down sometimes smoke filled stairways. What 102 Minutes and 9/11 taught me is to 1. get out, ASAP. Don't necessarily listen to others (the all clear message to return to desks). 2. leave everything behind, except to put shoes on. Forget purses, laptops, pictures, momento's (some victims went back for items).

Forgot Part 2 was on last night. Would have liked to seen it.

I'll watch for future airings of this special/documentary.
