Some Lowlife Ate My Sub

#1 Postby HurricaneGirl » Tue Aug 23, 2005 8:09 am

    I had half a Larry's Giant Sub, a Big Boss I didn't finish yesterday in the fridge. I was going to eat it for break time and it's gone! Why would somebody want to eat after me and take my sub??? :grrr: :grrr:

Mary, you need to plant a trap now to catch the culprit. May I suggest spiking a sandwich with REALLY hot hubanero sauce and when you see the perp running around clutching his tongue they can be apprehended!!!!!!!!

Amanzi that's a good idea. I know it was taken after 3:30 when I leave work. The guys stay until 5:30 or later. I have a feeling Steve the Asst. Project manager took it and is not fessin up.....  It was gone already this morning and I get here at 7:00 am. I really wanted to eat it and I'm guess I'm just P.O'd. :grrr:

Yeah I know what you mean, a rent-a-drun... rent-a-worker that was on one of our jobs actually ate my ham & cheese sandwich. Now temporary staffing employees don't make anything hardly so I forgave the guy, though I was very hungry.

In your situation it is probably just some weirdo. If no one pays any attention to your inquiries, my advice : eat everyone's food very fast. Burp. Demand to know what happened to your sub. I think the absolute terror of this act would be enough to drive out the culprit.

LOL! I hate it when that happens. Our staff had a group bring-a-dish lunch a few weeks ago. There was so much food, we decided to finish it off the next day at lunch (would have fed all 20 of us at least 2x more)

The next day, the only thing in the fridge was a tiny carton of potato salad! The serving dishes were never seen again either. We had some construction going on in another part of the building at the time, and yes, they had access to our kitchen. Bummer.

My 1st question is why would someone want to eat after a co-worker???

You should tell "Steve" tomorrow that you've got some kind of disease and see if he fesses up. :grrr:

Don't tell him directly...just mix some vaseline or neosporin with some reddish lipstick and apply liberally at the corners of your mouth, and make sure you're in front of him when you 'painfully' dab at your affliction and say you think the sandwich you didn't finish yesterday has apparently given you some sort of reaction/infection.

Heh.

At our plant, we had similar thefts from the fridge for a while. Truck drivers and others who came into the break room to use the facilities would obviously get their lunch while no one was looking.

We later had security cameras installed in our facility as a protection for those who worked nights and weekends. When we asked whether it was more important to keep an eye on our expensive computers or the break room...employees decided the break room!!! (don't tell them I also have a camera on the computer room too). So now we have continuous monitoring of the fridge recorded on the DVR!

Now at home, a different story.

I'm quite sure I muffled something like "Some lowlife took that last piece of cheesecake!" when I went looking for it last Sunday.

It's just my wife and me who live in our home.

There was an episode on Friends when the boss ate Ross's sandwich and he went totally nuts. Your post reminded me of that!

At the "mouse factory" third shift, we had a lunch-raider. I made a Mighty Dog sandwich which I later found on a table with a big bite missing and a spray of chewed bread/dog food all over the tabletop. No more stolen lunches. It was worth cleaning up the mess. WARNING: You will likely be in trouble if you use a laxative or other type of "trap". The thief will then have a legal action against you, the real victim! The super-hot sauces are no problem, as they are a food item, and OF COURSE you always use them. I have even seen catalogs where you can order all sorts of chemicals that cause vomiting, the "poopies", bad gas, colored urine and so-forth. Sounds funny, but they can be dangerous and will certainly be viewed by a jury as "poison".

The Case of the Missing Sub remains a mystery this morning....

Steve swears he didn't eat it and I believe him. He is the type of person who would tell me, then buy me some lunch that day. He looked me straight in the eye, did not laugh and told me he didn't eat it.

I like the ideas for planting a trap and brought some really intense habernero hot sauce and will be armed and ready for the next culprit. :)

I kind of liked the worried look because you have the terrible disease and you want your co worker to know now so he can be treated medically while there's still time
