all I know is my cat has refused to leave the house for 2 days now - just sits and looks at the door. Did the same last year before we got hit with Frances and Jeanne. I hate it cause he then uses his box! lol and I have to clean it out!

Pay attention to animals behavior. They have a much better sense for these things than do we humans do. I also noticed it last year before F and J.

exactly. last year my bird went absolutely crazy. we eventually let him fly out of his cage into the open.

I wish I still had my dog. But, she was put to sleep on June 30th this year. She used to hide behind the couch and act real nervous during bad weather. She used to bark everytime it would thunder.

Heck yea....My dogs are acting like they are very hyper. Had one try to jump out of the back of the truck on the way to the vet today, put him upfront mid route. And, they are getting out of the fenced yard, in the 2 years I have had them, this has never happened, its like someone gave them something that is making them super active.

Last year I knew Charley would miss Tampa when I took a drive along the beach the day of the storm and all the birds were basking in the hazy sun (caused by Charley's outflow) as if nothing was going to happen.

My dogs always acted jittery before a storm. But the most interesting thing is that I"ve seen strange creatures come out that I've never seen before. Before Ivan...3 praying mantis attached themselves to my sliding glass doors trying to get in, and before Dennis...a Lunar Moth (beautiful if you've never seen one) attached to the same said doors. I've never seen either of those creatures in my life and i've lived here in Pensacola almost my entire 44 yrs.

I am between houston and galveston, off of I45. These dogs are driving me nuts, if they wernt like my children, I would get rid of them. I dont believe there are any storms this way, but they are acting crazy.

recon report should be in soon, convection is blowing up like crazy over the past couple of hours as it has moved into SSTs of 85-90F

Keep in mind it goes from nothing to maybe even a T.S in like 12 hours. That is when the convection started blowing up last night. This is exactly what I have been nervous about since late last week...and hence the reason for my post...the SSTs are boiling out there...

I don't want to burst anyone's balloon, but, while it seems the recon has possibly found a circulation center near 22.5N 75W, this small area of convection appears to be moving westward, and, would just skim across the Cuba coast on it's present track.

If this is true, then any possible depression would be slow to develop as it moves westward south of the Florida Keys.

I think that sums up the mindset of a hurricane junkie about as well as it can be put. No one wants to sleep because we don't want to miss the next model output, sat photo, turn and such. I'm beginning to think I'm just a glutton for danger even though I can't stand danger (e.g. side of a cliff, roof of a tall building, driving too fast) outside of tropical systems.
