Hi-res imagery (as of 2320Z) shows a pretty good burst starting to go up to the SW the big blob...closer to the center of circulation located by aircraft. If this burst manages to overspread the center in the next few hours...it won't be very long at all before Katrina starts making waves.
Sorry...had to throw that in.

I am glad this thread got started. I'm sick of trying to sort through those freakin' thirty or forty page long monsters. Anyway, it does look like its starting to get better organized. Convection is increasing and there's a nice little anticyclone right over the top of it. These things kinda remind me of an engine on a cold day, how it takes a little while to get them going, and they sputter and sometimes try to die a couple of times at first. Once we get some persistent convection, a main center should become dominant and this thing should start cranking.

You're right. At first, it looked to me like the cloud tops actually warmed a bit, but now it looks like new cold burst are beginning to form right around the center. Could this be the beginning of its core?
