A "personality makeover"

#1 Postby Josephine96 » Tue Aug 23, 2005 6:21 pm

If you think this deserves to be in my Wal Mart Journal instead, feel free to move it

I had a realization on Sunday.. Someone's loud voice {God's} began screaming at me while I was having a bad day..

Here's what it was saying

"What happened to the John before your bike mishap?" "Ya never used to be this sensitive, care so much about a lack of recognition, let the small things get to you" "What's a matter with you" lol

Well.. When God was done.. {assuming it was him}

I thought of it.. and decided.. I WAS a much better and happier person before my traumatic fall. Since then, I have become more irritable, easily agitated and have been letting everyone just walk all over me.. Plus I have had 3 temper tantrums at work in the last 6 months..

So I made a vow to myself on Sunday.. I Know it's not gonna be easy, but I wanna return to being the person I was my 1st 3 months at Wal Mart.. I know it's gonna take work.. But I think I can do it..

I have even written some positive affirmations on a card, that I now carry in my vest pocket each day.. I will probably carry them every day from now till if I ever leave Wal Mart lol.. That way if I ever start feeling bad.. I can know I'm not the bad things I think..

I also have a meeting on Thursday with my store boss. I made up a plan on how I can become a better leader. and he's actually gonna sit with me for a bit on Thursday and discuss it with me..

My 1st day of my personality makeover went well. Had a couple minor "tests" with the "new" me.. but passed lol..

Someone commented to me today that maybe the 2 reasons I've changed were because of the working in the heat all summer lol or maybe I have developed Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from my bike thingy..

I don't know..

We learn from everything we do. When things go well, we need to be humbled by it. When things go badly, we need to figure out how not to repeat it next time.

When we let someone down, we need to remember our word is all we have of value to give someone. When we feel selfish, we need to be reminded of what that does for others.

We go through personality makeovers until the day we die. Everything that we see, do, hear, and say is part of who we are and who we are becoming.

If using the affirmations helps you improve a little bit each day, they are worth the energy and effort.

There is not a day goes by that I am not a little changed by the events of the day. It can be as small as picking up a pen for someone who dropped it to as smiling at a clerk who just helped you out at Wal Mart.

Good luck as you learn and grow. Walk away from the anger when you can, and when you can't...make sure you don't cross a line that doesn't allow you to return.

Remember...you are not alone in your journey!

I know what's the matter, not being sarcastic, a butthead or a jerk here BUT.....working with the public, especially at WalMart *due to the amount of business that they do, NOTHING else CHAD  * will wear you down, it will make you a GROUCH!! I cannot believe people these days, the way they treat people in retail........I'm tellin' ya from experience, 20 yrs in the grocery business, made me a REAL JERK towards the end and NOW with the PD  let's just say, I'm GLAD my Taser is HARD to pull out of the holster!! JUST KIDDING about the Taser part!!!!!!
