CALLING ALL WXBUDDIES TO THE RESCUE!!!

#1 Postby wx247 » Wed May 14, 2003 1:41 pm

Howdy everyone! As you all know, Pierce City was pretty much totaled as a result of the F3 tornado that ripped through the area. Since the disaster there has been a lot of generous people donating clothes, food, water, money, you name it, to the Red Cross, the City of Pierce City, etc. However, one part of the town seems to have been forgotten.

The library was completely destroyed by the twister! I spoke with a library official 2 days ago via cell phone and asked if anyone had set up a fund to help rebuild the library. She said that they had not. I then proposed to her my idea -- to have a book drive. She then began to cry and thanked me! She told me that no one had thought about that.

So...here is where I am asking for your help... if you have any used books (that are good condition) or would like to purchase a new book and mail them to me... I will organize them and take them to the Library foundation where they will store them until the library opens! I have proposed this to some of my friends and already have a few books. In fact, one of my friends gave me a $20 bill and told me to buy what I need.

If you are interested in sending me a book or two for the library, please pm me and I will send you my mailing address. I thank you all! :)

Sorry this is so long.

I've got books that have never made it out of the boxes after
I moved, this past December, due to my slowness in buying
another bookcase! I'll be happy to donate some books!

Something I learned from the Oklahoma City Bombing.

FEMA funds DO NOT COVER CHURCHES.

That separation of church and state jazz.

So in any disaster, the churches are ON THEIR OWN.

Just so you know.
