Seriously, I have never seen so many worries and news coverage over a TROPICAL STORM. Next, people are going to go crazy about tropical waves

After much hype about this season, the recent lull has many folks anxious to talk about anything tropical. However, this storm has the potential for rapid strengthening, and could catch many off guard, especially those who thing that it's nothing to get excited about. The water in the forecasted path is very warm, winds are favorable, and there has been a recent burst of convection. If the storm slows, we may be looking at a significant rain event. Research Floyd in 1999 in Eastern NC to see the potential event.

Well, I've never understood people posting on a tropical weather site, while a tropical system is approaching the U.S., saying to others that their concern is overblown, or that TV stations are over reacting because they're not showing their usual sitcoms. What's next? An entire channel devoted to weather?

Let's drop this thread. Its premise is something we can discuss after the season, not in the middle of an approaching storm with a potential for a lot of misery.

Well after last years onslaught of storms more people are concerned in Florida about any tropical systems. Maybe we are respecting the wrath that mother nature can induce on us.

I think bashing each other is not the answer to anything. Some people have a pathological fear of storms, some people have a keen interest in them. For whatever reason we are compelled to post on this board we have our reasons and those reasons should be respected by all members. To the person that made the comment of why so many people are hyped up over a tropical storm? Well, there are many reasons but none as important as flooding, property damage and the potential for loss of life. Tropical Storms can also be devastating, they can kill and maim, maybe not on the scale of a Catagory 5 hurricane but the reality is it is still a very severe storm capable of producing tornados, high wind gusts and flash flooding. So the next time you ask "Why is everyone so excited it is just a T.S?" Remember to you it may be a little inconvient storm but to somebody somewhere it will be a life changing event....

I need to get off my soap box now, will someone please help me down? lol

I just saw what the models take is on TS Katrina. One model takes it to the AL FL border, and the Gfs barely touches the Florida east coast and takes it northward.

That's true. Unfortunately, here in South Florida we can't say, "run for the hills!!!"
