I was considering a chicken tv dinner tonight, but reading this thread has changed my mind

I love prime rib and filet mignon, but when I visit steakhouses, usually order a steak burger...nothing beats a 1/2 pound of ground chuck or chopped sirloin on a toasted bun with dinner fries (or a baked potato), salad bar, (and don't forget a "bloomin onion" at Outback).

I'd better stop typing...my mouth is watering now

Grilled Filet, medium well with grilled tilapia with it too! No mooing for me. But I have to eat the steak that day, I can't stand meat reheated in the microwave.

Eating steak or any meat too rare can get you sick. It is supposed to reach a specific temperature.

What is your (plural) view on eating meat too rare?

Well, I *kinda* agree with you Tom, eating *too* much red, rare meat isn't good for you, on the other hand, it's the only way a steak tastes Goood! My exwife had to have her steak done to WELL done, Bleeeck! Grey steak *EEEEEEK!* The inspection process has been refined in the packing houses, the chance of getting E-coli has been GREATLY reduced over the past 2 years, even with a *slight chance* of getting sick, I still eat my meat rare to med rare!

Being a meat cutter/mgr for all those years, I learned a LOT about meat and cross contamination, if the meat is properly handled, there's VERY little chance of getting sick anymore BUT, know the steakhouse that you're eating at, if your BBQ'n at home, follow the correct procedures for handling red meat and you'll be "O'TAY Butwheat!"

Let me just wipe the drool off the desk Image You guys have made me all hungry now!!

I Love Sirloin with potato salad and a crunchy garlic bread....YUMMY. I'll take that medium done. Thanks :)

Tom I don't eat meat that is oozing blood, but I dont like it when it bounces like a piece of rubber either. My husband eats it while it is still walking, and he has never been ill from it. In fact he loves to eat raw veal  I cant remember the name of the dish, but it is an Italian dish made with thin slivers of raw veal. South Africans have something like Jerky, but it is not smoked meat, it is raw meat that has been very heavily spiced and left to dry out. I LOVE it, just made a batch yesterday! (its called Biltong) If you love meat, you should give it a try... I promise you will never eat a piece of Jerky again! ;)
