Bad news about landfall area
The storm will traverse on a fairly skinny part of the state and probably will not drop in speed like Frances and Jeanne did. This isn't good.

Hardly a non-event with up to 15 to 20 inches of rain expected is some areas. And God only knows what will happen when it hits 94 degree waters around Tampa Bay area. Probably not a good thing to say unless you can predict the future.

It's strange -- well maybe it's not that strange -- that people who actively root for these storms to form (I saw several "Go Katrina" posts) and get stronger on this very board don't make many enemies. Honestly, some of the stuff I read from Floridian posters after those 4 storms hit last year was surprising -- how they were disappointed their part of the state didn't get hit, how they want to be outside when an eye passes overhead, etc. This definitely happened...
I have the desire to witness violent weather phenomena. I've said some stupid, insensitive things as a result. And I have to deal with those demons...
Still, these impulses probably aren't abnormal -- I'm sure CNN's ratings tonight aren't nearly as high as they would be if this were a major hurricane.
