Katrina's Stalled
Obvious from the radar loops that the storm has stalled. This throws a monkey wrench into the last model runs and current track, as depending on how long the storm stays stalled, the track could greatly vary. Key West has absolutely gotten hammered by this storm.

Not obvious. When your loop is only an hour long...and the storm is only moving at 8mph...it's hard to tell any movement. Recon shows it's still moving.

Hmm.. doubt it.
Actually I really don't see a WSW movement anymore, looks to be drifting west.I wouldn't doubt if it is starting to head more W/WNW.
Recon... says its going wsw. Recon has the eye pinpointed. Recon doesnt guess from satalite they do it from plots. Recon for the win.

...imagining her turn signal blinking as she brakes for her right turn.

Bingo. There is nothing to bring this storm anywhere near us. It is highly unlikely..hopefully it shifts west again Texas needs the rain and a N.O hit would be unimaginable. WE dodged the bullet agaiin!!
Rainband, You may be right, but I'm not yet convinced it will move a whole lot farther west before making the turn. Since I've called this system correctly for the past couple of weeks, I'll stick with my hunch --- for now.
That said, I hope you're right -

Hello,
First post here, but have posted for the past 5 years on TWC, so have talked to some of you before...
Looking at radar, she is exhibiting slightly different behavior:
1. Persistent WSW motion has at least paused over the past hour. Take that for what it's worth
2. Eye wall is beginning to close again on the NW side. May mean northerly shear is lessening. Recon observed open eye to the NW, so I was not imaging it.
3. Dry air is slowly mixing out and storm is becoming more symmetrical. Look for winds to jump this evening, approaching cat 3.
