That would be a US nightmare....let's not even discuss this possibility. I'm serious.

But yet we're not hearing much at all. I just got back from a 1 1/2 hour trip in the car and flipped through the radio the whole time trying to find something out on kat and Nothing, Nada, Zip. Not a peep!
They're still making it sound like a slight possibility here, instead of a threat which I think it is at this time. People are watching the news and hearing 20% chance of rain today. Now how about that Saints camp?

We need to discuss the possibility. People need to understand the danger they could be in.

I would not put it completely out of mind and know what you are going to do if the nightmare were to appear to be coming.

You need to watch FOX8 tonight. Bob is starting to get real nervous. I also sensed a nervousness from John Gumm on 4.

I have several options for safe havens to the North, and I know almost all of the country roads in SE Louisiana and Southern Mississippi.....

I can't get Breck in Biloxi... can you summarize what he's saying later tonight... I really use to like to watch Breck when we got Channel 8 but stopped getting the channel several years ago..... he never should have stated what he said about Katrina earlier in the week... you don't see the Storm2K mets making statements like he did when he said the storm was going up the east coast and not going into the GOM and would not be a NO problem (as was posted on storm2k).... esp based on one model (VIPER)... I still like Breck but mostly because of his passion for the weather.... he just needs to use a little comment met sense once in a while... really bad forecast hurts his credibility IMO

The governor declared a "state of emergency" earlier this afternoon in anticipation of Katrina. 17 parishes were involved in the conference call.
John Gumm and Channel 4 are the only local mets I pay attention to!

Just want to clear something up...I just read everything that JB has written in the past couple of days...and there is not a single mention of NOLA. He is NOT predicting the doomsday scenario, at least not for NOLA. He is predicting it for the oil refineries at Pascagoula. The reason is the same one that he used to forecast Dennis into there, that only a storm hitting the city from the SE can cause this scenario, not one moving from the south.
It appears that someone saw the track and said that it would mean bad news for NOLA; then everyone thought that those were JB's words. Yes, his track has a direct hit for Mississippi, and NOLA would wind up getting TS winds at least, but that is NOT the focus of his concern at all.
On a side note, he is not predicting a category 5 either, but upper category 4, with a chance of a 5. Not a big difference, of course, but if you're going to keep score, you might as well get it right.

That said, Joe was insisting Katrina would head up the east coast like Donna with hurricane force wind from Florida to Maine for the past few days.
