The forecast was correct but the comments on the GFS could not have been true because it just started about 5 minutes ago. Perhaps he was referring to the 18z run or something else. I'm sure you're right that he's a great guy - just wanted to clear up the fact that the GFS doesn't start until about 0246z.

I know that. But it was a call with the NHC. He's reporting what they said. Like I said, maybe comments from the Gulfstream or map extrapolations or maybe they just knew the initialization would have that issue? He's on live over there so you could probably ask him (probably between doing newscasts and such).

I think what the NHC is doing is smart as hell. Put the center over NO people will leave and thats what they need to do. Even if it his near there its going to be horrible. Do what ever you can to make those people scatter.
