If there is any good news

Obviously the NC GOM is going to get whacked hard...no avoiding that...however...this may aide to significant upwelling and perhaps the future systems that may try to get into the gulf...as advertised by the hydro center may not be able to get as strong...the harm may have already been done...but it may save someone else...just something to ponder

But... Did you stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night?? Sorry, I'd also like to hear the answer on the upwelling issue.

This was said about Dennis as well - but look where we are. Still, we're late enough in the season that it is probably true.

The thing is if it distorys New orleans. There will not be a need for another hurricane because America will be a second class nation. Distorying New orleans alone would do that. But you also have to remember a good part of our countrys oil is south of there.

I would disagree with you there, Matt. Not taking anything away from the graveness of a strong hurricane hitting New Orleans, but it would not send the USA into 2nd-class status. Far from it, actually. The spine of the USA isn't solely dependent on New Orleans.

It would likely cause a major worldwide recession. And teh state of Louisiana would likely collapse economically. But we'd recover from it, like we always do.

At least the Saints have already played this week ... imagine what it would have been like if there was a Monday Night Football game scheduled for the Superdome Mon night?
