The 00Z and 12Z GFS runs are "special" - they have the most accurate imput data available. The 06Z and 18Z are extensions of the 00Z and
12Z runs, and can be subject to large errors.

Well if there's a Cat 5 bearing down, I'm out. Even if I can't leave the city at that point, I can go to the building where I work. It's made of marble and granite. My office is on the 4th floor and there are 200+ pound doors throughout as well as numerous interior corridors where I could ride it out. The only problem is that I don't know where my office key is. Heh. /put that on the list for tomorrow along with finding my hatchet.

Still looks a little too far east. I think Katrina will move westward for quite some time before a gradual turn to the wnw then nw for awhile before heading due north. She is pretty far down there and won't be influenced as much as if she was a little more north. Also getting stronger and maybe keeping the ridge a little stronger in the process and fighting off the trough.

The problem is that Kat is still moving W, and even seems to be moving more WSW in the last few hours..

So Mike, you think a SELA/SWMS hit is too far East? What you thinking right now? Central LA coast?

Heck, let all the media circus set up camp there...judging by what I saw on the sports segment of the 10 o'clock news tonight, there's certainly isn't anyone else using it for anything worthwhile!

gboudx, I think Grand Isle over towards Morgan City will be my bullseye unless something drastically changes tomorrow which I don't seem happening. She is still moving WSW right now.

I'd rather keep my money than buy Saints tickets. I'd still have hair if it wasn't for the Saints. Only good thing if Katrina damages the dome is maybe they could do better playing somewhere like Tiger Stadium since they can't seem to win at home.

Cant believe this is happening. We have a potential Cat 5 headed dead on toward New Orleans. The worst disaster in the history of the United States. Pray this doesn't occur.

We have a lot of family down in NOLA and are growing more concerned. Yet, this has been one of the most poorly forecast storms that I can recall. This is like being back in the 1970's or something. Yesterday, there was talk that the storm was going to turn up the FLA peninsula and never make it into the Gulf and now this scenario is being discussed. Who knows where this thing is going!

...and all we can talk about are the Saints. Human Nature - certainly a strange beast...
