Katrina can now see and still moving WSW. awesome loop!

Katrina can now see and folks this is one scary looking storm. I cannot believe it is still tracking WSW or even SW at times. Maybe just maybe it will NOT make the turn northward and not make another U.S. landfall.

Are those last few clips what they call "torque wobbles?"

Could someone explain to me how that works? I know it happens when a storm is deepening rapidly.

Wow I get home to see a NHC track heading straight into NO, discussions of a possible cat 5 and now that incredible footage with the eye forming and then
that monster outflow...
Really hope everyone in the target area has their evac plans sewn up.

The last frame in the loop almost give the impression the storm has moved more southwestward than WSW.

It looks like the top of the screen isn't exactly N (more like 005-010 degrees)... so I think WSW is still correct.

I see, check out this satellite. The is trying to hold on but it's being pounded by Katrina on the SE and convection moving in for the NE side. Maybe if that convection In Alabama makes it to the Gulf that will begin the NW turn...... But who knows....

That's amazing watching her grab that moisture off the Big Bend area and wrap it around. Almost like making cotton candy!!

It looks like it's making a loop, but if it keeps going southwestward Cuba should start issuing hurricane watches.

And somehow I get the feeling that the "small" storm will start to catch up with the "giant" outflow. I'm betting she's going to start spreading out more in the near future.
