Anyone in N. Miami?

#1 Postby inotherwords » Sat Aug 27, 2005 10:22 am

I have friends in N. Miami that I can't reach by phone or email. Was wondering if anyone here lived near there and could give me a report on conditions there and how badly the area was damaged or flooded. They live at Keystone Point just east of Biscayne Blvd. Thanks.

My husband got a call from work sort of near there and all was ok. I am sure there are phone lines and power out in certain areas and could be for some time. I know my neighbors had no power for 3 wks lst year yet we only went without for 5 days. Literally directly behind us. Same with the phones - We went without for 3 weeks - they only went without for 1 week.

Mom lives in extreme North Dade; Ives Dairy Road area and things are fine.
She was even lucky enough to only have power out for 14 hours!

Can't be too bad because the Dolphin game is on for tonight.

My business in north miami is without power and phones. But the area isn't badly damaged.

It may be around mid next week before the power and phones are restored to that area. :(

I drove through downtown North Miami last night (125th St.) and the whole area was without power, but no flooding and not much damage.

There's so much of the power grid down now that it may be a while - went down to check on my parents' place in South Miami, and that area was harder hit, and even most of Coral Gables was blacked out still (and trust me - the Gables gets priority service.).

Thanks very much. This explains why I can't reach them. Best to all of you and I hope your power is restored soon!
