I can't call my family!

I live in New Orleans, Irish Channel, and my phone service on both cell and land line is totally out! However, my Internet service provided by Bellsouth, my phone company, works fine.

What is up?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

I need to talk to my family.

This is not normal.

I'm not a phone experet but it could be cell service and land line service jammed due to people calling in and out of the city like crazy due to Katrina.

If you can, try to send them an e-mail. Also, if you get a cell signal but just can't make a call, if they have a cell phone, try to use text messaging to get in touch with them. I'm told that that will still be able to make it through when the lines are jammed. Good Luck

The lines are jammed. I just now got through to my sister who is heading back to Mandeville.
