Recession to abruptly hit - Gas to ^$3.50 gallon

#1 Postby TreasureIslandFLGal » Sat Aug 27, 2005 9:12 pm

If this pans out, Katrina will be the worst natural disaster to hit the United States. It will take years and years to recover locally as well as nationally. This storm will likely destroy many of the oil platforms or at least render many of them unusable for quite a long time. In addition, the impact of "spills" and the resulting cleanup will be incredible. Not just from the rigs but the whole system that will probably sustain damage from the pipelines to the storage yards. What a mess.

Wasn't there a movie on tv not too long ago about such a scenario coming to fruition?

Normally a mass disaster such as what this will be would be a situation to call up all the National Guardsmen and Reservists to mobilize to help. But unfortunately, all our troops are thousands of miles away.

I would hate to be a servicemember now with family in NOLA and not being able to help them. -feeling helpless from way over there.

Sorry, but we are all concerned about gas prices. At this time tho, I think JMO, we should concentrate on making sure those residents in harms way are evacuated and taken care of. US citizens are resilient and strong!
