WWL-TV just announced they are OUTTA THERE>>.

They are transferring their newscast up to Baton Rouge on the LSU campus.

Hopefully things don't get too rough up in Baton Rouge, I know quite a few people riding it over there and I'm sure there are a ton of residents from New Orleans there as well.

Pray for New Orleans, Katrina is on a bee-line  .

They were ready to leave N.O., and already had the studio set up at LSU. Coverage is already continuing - smooth transition to the back-up crew in Baton Rouge.

Heard the female anchor at LSU say it had taken them 7 1/2 hours to make the 1 1/2 hour trip from NO to LSU.

I am sure it did -- from the hotel i am in in baton rouge, you can see the traffic "crawl" by on the interstate -- last year for Ivan, it took 8 hours for me to get from NO to BR.

Looks like the streaming video is also out of there.
I've lost it through their website and through the Windows Media link someone had posted as the "better link".

Try watching through their sister station khou-tv out of Houston.

http://www.khou.com

It's a much stronger broadcast.

I've heard Baton Rouge can expect gusts up to 70-80mph late tomorrow morning. Hope they're ready.

Thank you so much!!! I've been streaming WWL for over 24 straight and i was upset to get it disrupted. I'm glad those anchors got out. That one guy was there for almost 24 hours I'm guessing... unless he had taken a small break.

May I also add that WDSU's staff has left as well, now brodcasting with sister station in Jackson, MS. Online coverage still works there too.
