Shepard Smith

He just said on Fox that this storm is not going to be nearly as bad as we were expecting and he is confident of that. He said the eye is collapsing and she is weakening.

I'm sure he may change his tune if Kat does not veer more eastward.

he is such a dousche.. the storm is strengthening and has actually fallen from 117mb to 116mb in the last recon

Didn't know Shep was a certified meteorologist with expertise in tropical systems. It sure would be good news but pressure has gone down not up and that's not a sign of a cyclone weakening.

look again closed eyewall and reports from last dropsonde of 916... this storm is not weakening

Was thinking the same. It is a very dangerous cane to the people in NO also.

can you guys not just look at the satellite? the storm IS weakening. the western side is really falling apart. when you then consider downtown new orleans may miss the eyewall, i think shepard has good reason to think he won't see winds over 100mph.

Looks like New Orleans had dodged the "worst case scenario" bullet once again. There will be damage, there will be flooding but it looks like a catastrophe has been avoided.
