Has a hurricane ever caused such broad geographic damage?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Has a hurricane ever caused such broad geographic damage?

I am stunned by the fact that a hurricane landfalling in Louisiana would be able to cause such damage in Mobile, Alabama. Is there any precedent for this occuring in prior storms?

If we take a look at the type and magnitude of damage that reached so far out, it is broad.
