Southeast Louisiana... You can't go home!

They won't let you back into Orleans Parish. This is being reported all over the news. I keep missing the other parishes, but they are saying you will be stopped on the interstate and won't be let in.

Might be a few days before they let anyone go home

I am going back home to Terrebonne Parish tomorrow morning. But, since I evacuated to Southwest Louisiana, we won't be passing anywhere near New Orleans.

Please provide some sort of support for this. This will be very upsetting to many if it is or isn't true. I am not doubting what you are seeing, just asking for verification. We are trying to provide as much information that is verified as we can for those who come here.

This was reported on local television in Lafayette, LA under the Amber Alert status. They don't want peopel heading back tonight for sure. They said "UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE"

I heard a bunch of reports about people wanting to head back home, but they advised through the alert to "STAY IN PLACE".

It included more parishes and I will try to gather those.

#1 priority is to get to those who stayed behind. Another official just stated that people should stay where they are. We need the interstate system open to officials and emergency personel.

The Mayor of NO has stated this. So has Gov. Blanco: http://www.wwltv.com/local/stories/WWL0 ... da1ea.html

I-10 is confirmed submerged in parts in three states (LA,MS,AL). They should make sure the streets are safe, not littered with down power poles, and lines before even thinking of opening roads to returnees.

I waited five days before coming back after evacuation for Charley. It will take time to get roads cleared, etc. Give it a couple of days.
