OMG JEANE MESERVE CNN REPORTER

#1 Postby EverythingIsEverything » Mon Aug 29, 2005 10:33 pm

just reporting on cnn by phone, almost in tears on what she witnessed. she stated the people crying in the dark for help, and one of her crew member has a broken foot. and talked about a man who barely made it upstairs before the water came rushing in. she stated she doesn't know how many are waiting to be rescued. she is totally devasted covering this story, and i dont blame her one bit. my dear god!

she talked about people with severed arms and stuff, i've mentioned this in two other threads but she sounded like she has seen and heard hell

that report should be replayed everytime someone decides not to listen to an evac command

I heard her too. This is a true tragedy of enormous proportions. She stated hearing people yelling for help, stuck in attics, and no one can get to them. Unreal.

they should have evacuated, this is what happens when people don't listen, they get hurt and killed- I just can't stand someone saying that "they aren't going to evacuate", "their house is safe from the hurricane", it won't be that bad"

Ugh. Sorry. I can't believe the magnitude of this disaster. I'm pretty emotional right now.

I know, I know..and i keep replaying in my mind a father and son being interviewed, i dont know what news channel i was watching at the time, but the reporter was asking their reasoning for staying, and the father said well we have moved 3 miles back from the shoreline, so we will be okay. and the reporter gave an analysis like the tsunami that happen to illustrate water being pushed on shore and how far it might go in, and the son was like well that is totally different, the water won't flood that far back with a hurricane. they where so certain that they where safe, and i can only think of them at this time, i think they where in grand isle

It is just so sad.
Some do not evacuate since they have no money, or a sick person living there that they are afraid to move, or pets that they just won't leave there, or just a lack of education ....

Her voice cracking like that was tough to hear.

The guy on her crew who joined the rescuers is on CNN now.
Rescuers are cracking open roofs with axes to rescue people.

Yes, I am listening to him now. This is really very grim and heartbreaking about these people trapped in their homes with the water rising still...

...couldn't reach a family on the roof because surrounded by live wires and gas line ruptured, and water maybe still rising, they have no place else to go once the water incompasses the roof. this is awful!!!!
