Since we are beginning to recieve requests for information on people and areas I am beginning this thread to consolidate these requests. Please post information requests, especially for individuals in this thread.

STORM2K makes no guarantees that we will be able to get information, but since we do have members all over the area, we will do our best. We are greatly concerned for many of our members and of course everyone in that area.

If you have verified information that has been requested please post it here also. Be aware that any trolling in this thread or verified false reports will be met with IMMEDIATE LOSS OF POSTING PRIVILEGES at STORM2K.

Does anyone have any info on Pensacola Fl, My son lives there and the last time I spoke to him early today they had already lost their electric and water was starting to come into their house and now I cannot get through to him. Please if anyone can tell me something ,Are they flooded badly there also ????

Flooding is probably less in Pensacola than in Biloxi and Gulf Shores. Haven't heard any specific reports on Pensacola on either CNN, MSNBC or the Weather Channel though.

Greatest storm surge appears to have been near Gulf Shores. Significant flooding is affecting parts of East New Orleans, the Ninth Ward, and St. Bernard parish. Unfortunately, not much word has come out of the lower parishes; probably all communication except ham radio and SSB is knocked out, and there is probably significant flooding in Plaquemines.

If I hear anything about the panhandle I'll post it in this thread.

Does ANYONE have ANY INFORMATION on the state of St. Tammany Parish in Louisiana, more specifically north Slidell and Pearl River! Family friends rode out the storm in Pearl River. No major preparations made to protect the house, as the eye was expected to go west of New Orleans, not east! It passed over St. Tammany real bad. ANY INFORMATION please!

Marilyn I have talked to people in P'cola this evening. There are areas of P'cola without power and some flooding happened but nothing of a terrible nature like during Ivan. He must live in the Eastpoint area if he is without power and had some flooding. Hope you get through soon.

Thank you for that! Slidell is less than 5 miles from Pearl River, so who knows what it could be like. Does anyone know if St. Tammany Parish is below sea level?

One of our employees has parents in Moss Point that he has not been able to contact. Their names are Albert J. Long, Jr. and Mary E. Long. They live on First Street in Moss Point and their local shelter would be the Moss Point High School.

Any information on their whereabouts and the situation in Moss Point and Pascagoula would be appreciated.

Last report from Metarie is that some areas, I think East portions(?) are flooded while Western parts are not. It is part of a post by Stefve from Metarie in the stickied members thread.

Thank You I finally got through to him about 10 Am this morning The Water stopped and didnot flood their home like it did with Ivan. they did lose their power. They have a generator so they can handle that.Again Thks so Much This is for all the others

Tom Melius from Metairie Small Animal hospital says Metairie Rd. is dry, but houses have 3-5 feet of water. Not much structural damage. Levee break at 17th street canal near lakefront. Water expected to rise further.

Water didn't rise in Metairie until after the storm.

Posted in another thread that President of Jefferson Parish has declared martial law, residents will not be allowed to return for 1 week, and then only to collect essentials and must leave again for about 1 month.

They have 177 animals sheltered at the hospital.

I'm trying to help a friend locate her brother who lived on 53rd Circle, Gulfport. (just NE of airport, 4 miles from shore, next to large canal) She spoke to him Saturday morning and he intended to stay! He has no cell phone and we know of no other close contacts there. She is almost ready to try to drive up there to look for him. If we do not hear from him in a day or so, we just might do it.

I'm trying to determine how badly his area of town was hit: I cannot tell from video and reports how far in from the coastline Gulfport was flooded. One mentioned almost everything from the railroad tracks south to the shore was decimated. I believe he is north of tracks, but south of I-10.

If I contact Red Cross, do you think they could at least tell me what shelter he might have gone to?( hoping he did decide to go!!) Any other point of contact to suggest?

MOSS POINT - Just off Interstate 10 in Moss Point, lakes of floodwater surrounded two hotels full of guests who had evacuated from New Orleans and elsewhere. The roofs and sides of the hotels were peeled away by the wind Monday.

The smell of leaking gasoline from destroyed fuel stations filled the air.

At least 50 cars were swamped in the hotel parking lots. One guest tried to start his engine only to have water swash out the tailpipe.

American Red Cross volunteers handed out food and drinks to long lines in a parking lot. The supplies were supposed to be taken to a staging area, but the man in charge said he had enough needy people right there.
