Watch for "homebrew"

#1 Postby BensonTCwatcher » Wed Aug 31, 2005 11:08 am

Keep your eyes peeled. I know JB talks about this a lot but, take a peek at the area east of JAX and a bit SW of bermuda. Use high or medium zoom and be sure to click animate. QS indicates a circulation.

Not that we don't have enough going on, but I think we need to (mods?) separate the Katrina aftermath info from the upcoming threats. This can be a place for both. We will have more to deal with soon enough. Hopefully ( and prayerfully) we will not have any more landfalls, but as one of the best places to "check-in" for tropic info, we need to keep up the watch....

Don't start flaming me on this either, I used to live in NO ( Metarie, Belle Chasse, and River Ridge) I still have family there.

Benson out...

Our local NBC met hesitantly mentioned this possibility last night. He specified that there was nothing there yet, but the models were hinting at some development there and that our (Florida's) Labor Day weekend could be "messy".

Hey Benson, did he say when and about where? Is this going to get into the GOM? Thanks in advance.

I haven't look @ the Euro, but i remember yesterday or day before it showing a L in that area...moving towards Florida. It was the 7 day, so it could be way off, but then again, it had Katrina 7 days out and was only off by a little bit.

OK maybe. I would not call it east of the Bahamas and into FL though...not unless it moves SW.

I guess we can consider your topic a more general discussion of homebrew activities, not just the one off the coast of FL. :P

Fair enough. anticyclone there and plenty of moisture to the NW. I woudl not be too surprised. No low on the suface maps yet either, but there is a LLC. I for one will be happy to sit here and watch it dissipate..If it is going to spin up, it should either get going over the next few hours or loose the spin.

While I would watch it, unfortunatley it looks to be wanting to provide rain for NO. Looks like an area of convergence now. I don't see any circulation. Thankfully.

The extreme S. Caribbean seemed to nudge off an interesting-looking feature to the north this morning, though the convection seems to be dying off.

At the 9:50 est Tropical Update, Dr. Lyons mentioned that the GOM was an area of concern for development over the weekend.

Remember , areas can be hit two times in one year. Happened in Pcola in 95 with Erin and Opal and know it has happened in NC

Couple of LL swirls near teh convection off FL/EC

1 at 30.5N 66.1W looks persistent but moving east ( for now)

Another little one trying to get started 27N 70.1N bur closer to/associted with the convection

Swirls can become problems over those temp waters
