Condition of Biloxi National Cemetary?

Has anybody heard about the condition of Biloxi National Cemetary? As I stated in a previous post, two of my grandparents are there and while I know they are not there in the spiritual sense, I have been quite disturbed not knowing what has happened to their resting place.

If anybody knows anything, I would greatly appreciate hearing something. Thanks in advance.

Last night on (on Scarborough Country I think Biloxi) a reporter was asked paraphrasing "what was the worse thing about this to you?" reporter got choked up and said paraphrasing again "the Veterans cemetary with the tombstones and coffins strewn about". He was pretty choked up about it. I'm so very sorry for you if this has happened to their resting place.

Just minutes ago I saw coffins strewn about on some sand-covered land somewhere down there. Fortunately, all of the coffins look entirely intact. If we are lucky most of them can be respectfully re-interred.

I also hope that the coffins (by mortuary standard) have permanent identification of those contained within. I know nothing of individual state codes regarding such a thing, and I doubt that many other than those who have been responsible for the burying of loved ones, or who are in the mortuary business, would know the answer to that.

SHUSTER: I think the most moving moment was the woman whose son was buried in a cemetery just over there. And she talked about visiting to see what happened to the cemetery, all the tombstones knocked over, the caskets all over the place and her son somewhere in there.

SCARBOROUGH: Yes.

I just saw—yes, walked through the cemetery today. You saw baby caskets. You saw tombstones broken, other caskets literally lifted out of the ground and thrown across the street. A great tragedy here.

If the Biloxi National Cemetary was disrupted. I am confident that they will be taken care of (in time). I have a brother buried at Punchbowl National Cemetary Hawaii and have known others who are buried in other National Cemetary (I am a military vet myself). Their remains will be treated with respect and honor.

Even though the transcipt didn't directly say the Verteran's cemetary, my heart sank. Like I said, while I know they are in a better place, it still takes its toll. Basically, it just seems like their dignity has been messed with. I don't know...it's a feeling I can't describe.
