Did you mean "fabled"? The Armageddon referred to in the bible is an event of prophecy and not a fable.
End Time stuff? I think so, but we now open a whole 'nother can of "worms", definitely NOT Storm 2K fodder.
There are many sites out there for such debate, but I had to reply a little bit to at least get this pointed away from our weather-based community, les' the Mods of Olympus have to strike us down.

I've never really been one to believe that we will or are supposed to know the date or time of the Rapture or of Armageddon or of the seven years of trial and tribulation that have been prophecied.
But if you do, and you consider Y2k (not that bad things actually happened then, but then Millenium was supposedly the "beginning" according to many scholars of that stuff), then 9/11, then the tsunami, now this, and several personal trials and tribulations in between for so many people, then I suppose, can we can say, "Two more years left?"
I don't know. I know I'm ready whenever.
That made me wonder though -- I wonder if anyone's gonna find a Nostradamus quatrain for this one.

Well Duckie, 7 years of tribulation beginning in 2005 to the end of the mayan calendar being 2012. It makes one wonder. I know during the Galveston cane, it wiped out the city, but then again there was not much back then. The way the situation is going it sounds like armegeddon...

Isn't there some asteroid or hurricane to hit by the year 2012 and destroy life on earth as we know it. I'm not sure on that but, i know I have heard it before on the discovery channel. Please don't judge my post....

Everything that is happening could have and likely was imagined and scenarioed by emergency preparedness groups. The fact is, in such an enormous disaster, there are always many deaths after the fact.
In the great quake in San Francisco, the liquor stores were looted and most of the able-bodied men drank themselves drunk, and refused to man the firelines to assist in fighting the fires that had broken out across the city. Partially as a result of that, many more lives were lost in the ensuing firestorm, including many of those same men who got drunk and refused to fight the fires.
In Hurricane Mitch, many people drowned or were killed by mudslides, and many more died in the aftermath, they could not be helped in countries stripped of what little infrastructure they previously had.
In New Orleans, it's extremely difficult to bring aid to the victims because of lack of land access, and the international airport just opened yesterday on one runway for limited humanitarian flights, without air traffic control, runway lighting, etc.
Larger seagoing vessels cannot reach New Orleans, land access is completely blocked from the east, one one road is open from the north, and overland travel from the west is difficult. Aid is getting in, but they can't get aid in as fast as people needed, which has made the situation extremely desparate. The mayor likely overstated the numbers who evacuated, and estimates of the number of people needing assistance were probably woefully underestimated, not in the least because of a destroyed communications infrastructure in the region.
Many factors go into this, now is not the time to cast blame.

Oh please. Worse disasters occur in the world fairly often. Millions in fact suffer daily from starvation and warfare. Sorry but sometimes you have to look past your own country when you think about this stuff. I'm pretty sure the bible doesn't say that the signs of the Armegedon will only occur in the USA.

No one knows when the second coming is. Only God Knows. This is a tradegy and I know that we will overcome it. Right now it looks bad and it is but remember when our neighbors need us we are there. Now get some help to NO and get those people out of there.

I have to agree with you, We as a country are not use to doing without as many countrys are. What the folks in N.O. are experiencing is a fact of life for some in other countrys.
