Good people are dying, and many will do so unarmed. You all remember these words from the AUTHORITIES when you see the next gun law being pushed. POLITICAL? I guess, but in this case it's RELEVANT to the discussion - you see the proof of the politics of gun-control: The lawless are armed and do what they please. The authorities are quickly overwhelmed and will even REFUSE to help. The victims are left on their own. Bare hands, kitchen knives or maybe a basball bat versus street thugs, many of THEM with firearms.

Guns don't guarantee survival, but how many places with visibly armed occupants would be looted and burned?

Sorry, but there are times where you just can't talk things out. I don't make the rules, but any "rule" that leaves the good people helpless is a bad rule in my book!

"Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff says there have been only "isolated incidents of criminality" in New Orleans."

don't understand why they paint that rosy...

I'm sorry to say but our intelligence still apparently sucks. Not even a political statement. No more than the sun is rising.

Don't they know we're all getting eyewitness reports via CNN and other news agencies? I just don't understand it.

If it's the subject of the media, people in charge of LA and NOLA can turn right around and say it's false, like Gov. Blanco is doing with the Superdome situation. Most people are going to see her on the screen saying "it's alright, it's alright" and believe her more then a news individual, because the sentiment is that someone in that position wouldn't lie about things like that.

I know many people on my campus think everything's going to be alright. My neighbors are discussing how sweet Mardi Gras is going to be, because this is the first year they'll both be 21. I keep trying to tell them, but they just keep saying, "Well the mayor and the governer say it's fine, so it's fine. You're just a worrywart."

Got to take a break... it just too much between

stop reporting criminal activity,we can do nothing about it

Gov Blanco saying stop broadcasting that there has been shooting in the Superdome.

Not being political, but IMO this is such a frustrating nightmare that began
when Hurricane evacuations were delayed due to "legal" concerns. This is such a screwup of epic proportions...
had to vent, not saying anything you don't already know. :x

If they want the news out get the f'ing military in there with f'ing gun ships, and kick out the media. I would like nothing better than the media to get kicked out and marines kicked in. That would be the sensible thing to have happen.

This has been a cluster expletive.

I'm trying to figure out why Govt officials are saying everything is under control.

Who are they trying to convince?

people trapped in New Orleans, the media, the police and national guard,
tv viewers and internet users have eyes and ears.

IMO

Pretending something is ok when it really isn't just makes it harder to solve the problem.

Bottom line...the thugs have become the big dogs on the block...the police no longer have any control and the thugs know this...IT IS TIME TO UNLEASH OUR BIGGER, MEANER DOG!!! BRING IN THE REGULAR MILITARY NOW AND PUT THESE INSURGENTS TO REST. It is sad to say but I have to think that Baghdad is a safer place to be right now overall. I cannnot believe all of this is happening in America... The government is doing an excellent job of showing terrorists across the world what our weak points are. God help us if we are ever hit on a national scale...Anarchy will reign!!! This is past the point for local and state authorities.

military can do nothing unless martial law is imposed and it has not been despite false reports. president and congress must declare martial law, the governor cannot. martial law may be the only solution.

I do believe that we can use the national gaurd and not the US military. All they have to do is put them in law enforcement mode and arm them and not just rescue mode.

Close your player and go back to one of the links. The server is overlaoded.http://www.shoutcast.com/dir ... mresult=25

I also think they have changed frequencies so they cannot be monitored.

Thanks man - from that info it seems they have changed the extension - something as you say they might be doing to avoid monitoring. Downloading winamp onto this laptop - got it upstairs on desktop already so see how it goes - report back in a min.

Unfortunatly I beleive that without martial law, all is lost.
The national Guard cannot empliment martial law.
We need soldiers on the ground, Lock and Loaded. This is like watching a war.....right in our own backyard. Scary thought too. If this is how we handle things such as a natural disaster, how will handle anything else??
This can only gives the terrorists ideas of where the breach is...... In the south.
