Wow... it is looking very good right now.

Also, does anyone remember 1997? It was a strong El Nino year... practically everything that developed in the western and central Pacific Ocean exploded into a typhoon or supertyphoon. There were a lot of supertyphoons then... one I remember was Winnie.

Well the JMA have this reaching 105kts which converts to 122kts in one minute averages. - Currently 95kts with a central pressure of 930hPa as of 6pm GMT.

I'm confused...

2 hours ago TWC had it at 145 mph... and this morning they had it at 135 mph.

It wouldn't surprise me if they were going by the JTWC advisories. I can't confirm this though as I've never seen TWC.

Going by the 6pm GMT JMA advisory the winds are around 130mph in one minute averages.

Why so much difference. One agency has it as a Cat 3 another one has it at 898 mb!

It looks like a Cat 5... perfect CDO, perfect eye. In the Atlantic, it would be one.

There quite often seem to be these sort of differences. I've had a quick look at the Korean Met Administration page and they have it listed at 46m/s which is following the JMA's advisories.

Brent: I agree it looks impressive but remember this isn't the Atlantic.
