Anyone here know if the stranded seal lion was saved?

Geeeezzz.. simple here..whoever does not give a crap about animals dont need to post here..lol..my God its that simple, stay with your posts over asking how many people died. As morbid as that is..it seems to be a hot topic here.

This post is for people who had info on the seals.. not if they are better than anyone else..lol..get off it already.

Look around you folks.. look at what has happned..and yet still people are insensitive and attacking other's feelings on here. Some people just dont learn, it disgusts me, it really does.

Look at yourself in the mirror if you get off making insensitive comments, get your anger out somewhere else..yell at yourself!

Im glad the sea lion is out of his misery..next time you go to see world and take your kids whom your lucky to have, or hug your dog or cat ect. remember your nasty comments about animal life and who cares.

This is for those who know who they are.

At my cat hospital we are taking donations to give to the animal rescue fund. Our city deployed 2 k-9 search and rescue units. :D

Noah, I'm going to reply to this because you're the original reason I got into this thread. Compassion is one thing. Yes, it is sad when cute little seals die in a hurricane. It's sad when snakes, crocs, and sharks die do, too, though I haven't seen any big tears about it like I have about the seals. But you seem a little more than sad:

Noah wrote: :red: :red: Someone shot one? Oh my dear God. @ sea lions died..i mean they are helpless, they need us to help them, they have no choice we do, stay or go. Im sick to death over this. Please give me any articles that might come up. Thank you all. :crying:

You seem ANGRY that someone would shoot a seal. As others have tried to point out to you, people aren't out in the streets in the middle of a seal-clubbing orgy, they're just not able to DO anything about stranded 500 pound porpoises when there tens of thousands of living and dead bodies to be found and hundreds of thousands of starving mouths to feed. It's NOT a lack of compassion, it's living in reality, as opposed to a happy fantasy land where people have time to organize crews and heavy equipment to move washed-up sea-animals back to the ocean in the midst of a national crisis.

Hey, FYI, EVERYONE THERE IS HELPLESS RIGHT NOW. Not everyone had a choice to leave, either. Oh my God it drives me nuts when people value the lives of animals over the lives of people.

There's nothing more sophisticated about a sea lion than a cow. I'd eat a cow if it were wandering the streets of New Orleans. No doubt about it. Of course I'd find someone who knows how to cut up a cow (butcher) and cook it first. But if I found a cow my first thought would be 'delicious cow wandering the streets'

LOL...In the wake of hair trigger feelings and all the sadness...you made me laugh.

I agree with both sides of the arguement, I have 4 parrots and I would give my life, no joke, for any of them.

Yet I also understand, there are people that need help, they come first, period.. I would sacrifice my feathered babies to save anyones, other than my own, life.

yet....at the same time, I must say this....

When we bring animals into civilization, we are under the moral obligation to care for them. They did not ask to come there, none of them were beached or rescued animals to begin with. All of them were brought to the area as an attraction. I feel sad for all of the animals that we as man, brought to death. We may not have had any control over Katrina, but we sure had direct control over what wildlife we brought to the areas of Katrina.

On another note, has anyone heard anything about the animals in the zoo and wildlife refuge of New Orleans???

Kevin, I think Cancun was trying to shed a little sarcastic humor and was a retort to some of the previous posts.

BTW, Kevin, Check your PM's

I don't see any new messages. Okay, thanks I got it.

I agree we should stop all suffering when possible. But if one person saves an animal that could have saved a person, I am torn about that. Sea lions are cute animals, but that does not make them more important than other animals or human beings. Its just an emotional attachment. I was joking (probably wrongly) about them being good sources of calories. But when it comes down to it in this situation, you've got to do what you have to do.

The compassion people feel towards animals is great, and certainly not harmful. But we have to be most compassionate about the hairless biped sort.

Well, Anderson Cooper reported a bit ago that he's seen rats eating people laying in the streets, so I guess we can all feel good that the rats are faring well.

Oh my God it drives me nuts when people value the lives of animals over the lives of people.[/quote] comment by windy.

I stated im glad the sea lion was put out of his misery.

I have not put animal life over human life.

I have a right to ask about the animal's welfare be cow or rat, as everyone else here has a right to ask about the people.

There is so much about the people i dont need to ask, so therefore i moved to my other concern, the animals, sea lion and the like.

I dont need your psychology windy, im of full mind thank you.

Who ever wants to makes jokes and poke fun, so be it.

I asked a simple question as everyone else here, and will continue my concern for animals as well as humans wether anyone here wants me to or not.

By the way, those 3 dolphins were saved too. :woo: :bd:

I'm locking this. Obviously, compassion and sensitivity have flown out the window in this thread. There is no reason to disrespect Noah for her feelings towards the animals. She did not place them OVER humans. But she has a caring attitude for the animals as well. There is nothing wrong with that.

We are here for civil discussions, information sharing, and support. Can we remember that?
