URGENT BELL SOUTH CUSTOMERS
Breaking news from Fox TV. I don't know if it is one of the buildings on fire but firetrucks and other equipment are trying to get to the Bell South Building in New Orleans to pour water on what they call the chillers. If it goes down most of the southeast could lose landline phone service.

No Chiller means no Air Conditioning
No Air Conditioning means the comm equip will overheat (transmitters & power supplys will get flakey and/or fail). Also, I've heard that the employees who maintained the building and equipment were told to leave on Wed. I heard that the building was to be used as a command center by State Police & Nat'l Guard and there was only about nine days of fuel then. I saw the bldg on the news the other night and the BellSouth sign was still lit up...they should've turned it and all the other uneccessary lights and equip off to shed some of the load...oh well...

Well, I hope that's not the case. We'll have to wait and see what happens.
