the following was posted on weathervine forum at yahoo groups, by Douglas Kiesling.
the video is amazing

I have finished up the Hurricane Katrina blog with all the video's and photographs of before, during and after Katrina destroyed New Orleans.

http://www.stormchaservideo.com/Hurricane_Katrina/

As far as I know and have heard, I was the only chaser in the world crazy or just stupid enough to stay in Downtown New Orleans with a strong Cat 4-5 Hurricane dead in its sights.

I have the opening of the Contraflow of Interstate 10 on Saturday and on Sunday when all lanes were bumper to bumper.

I have some of the last ever footage of Bourbon street packed with people on Sunday at 1am. They all thougth it was a joke and did not prepare.

Some of the first rain bands coming into Downtown New Orleans and people still partying at the few remaining bars on bourbon street

Then the insanity begins.
Cat 1 winds up on the Levee in Kenner on Lake Ponchatrain blowing trees and signs around but not doing much if any damage yet.

It gets worse, Fire departments in Kenner try to contain a 2 alarm fire from spreading in 80 mph winds and just let the buildings already on fire burn down. Then I go into downtown New Orleans and capiture some of the most intense winds I have ever seen blow around buildings and speed up.

Then its on to the daylight video. Roofs flying off of sky scrapers, people hanging on to polls, people watching in horror as their city is destroyed in front of them. This was just like Charley but this time in a metropolitian area.

And then there was the flooding and the debris as I fled the downtown area when I heard the levee broke.

On to Aftermath footage which includes footage at the international airport and people stranded who could not get on the last flights out.

And more flooding.

Then the Refugee video and interviews with people who lost everything.

I am stunned! Being only 2 1/2 hours from New Orleans I have been all over the city many times. My heart is breaking after seeing that. And those people in NO.
