Are those gusts or sustained winds. Either way it looks like Katrina was weakening quite a bit before landfall.

Of course Katrina weaked at landfall. That is what hurricnaes do. There was quite a bit of consternation on this board with Katrina landfalling about this.

The majority of her 140+ mph winds were offshore.

and yes... hurricanes weaken when they make landfall. :lol:

I suppose it's too much to expect that all those TV reporters who are saying New Orleans was hit by a Cat 4 or 5 will bother to look at this data ...
