The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency issued the following instructions for those wanting to volunteer their help in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Professional search and rescue volunteers: Contact Mississippi Emergency Management Agency Search and Rescue Support at (601) 360-0937 to receive credentials to pass roadblocks.

Professional medical volunteers:

Nurses: Contact Mississippi State Board of Nursing, Delia Owens, at (601) 497-8022.
Physicians and EMTs: Contact Mississippi State Board of Health at (601) 576-8085
