Well fellow Texans..

#1 Postby corpusbreeze » Sat Sep 03, 2005 9:31 pm

our hurricane season is comming to and end in about two to three weeks. The fronts will most likley be comming down to catch and protect us from any tropical activity. I know it is still possible, and have had occurances in history but all in all it is comming to a rapid end. Looks like we made another year without any scrapes or bruises. I still wish we could have had a small t. storm to break this drought we are in, hopefully the first few fronts will bring us some much deserved rain. I do wish the rest of the hurricane prone coast of America the best of luck the remainder of this horrible season, and may God have mercy on us.

I thought hurricane season ended Nov. 1. We still have a way to go before the "all clear" is sounded.

It actually ends on December 1.

And Corpusbreeze, here's a counterexample:

Yes, only a C1, but still an October hurricane for Texas.

Yes of course I know that . I'm just saying it will be more and more difficult from mid to late September for a hurricane to hit Texas. Now in other parts of the land such as Florida, the season can go on till the very end. Every day that goes by now is one day closer to the end of this terrible season. I'm counting the days. I still think it will be a very active season from here on, but for other parts of the land.

Yup, it is rare for us to get a hurricane once the first cold front comes down. After living here 42 years, In my experiences, If we have not had one by mid to late august....we aint a gunna get one, if we do it will be one of the rare events.

I will be thrilled if Texas doesn't see one. Although a quick moving TS could be beneficial to many areas, these intense hurricanes need to all be fish! I'd be quite nervous to see anything anywhere in the GOM anytime soon. Besides, a lot of us in the coastal areas are using our shelters for the victims affected by that monster Katrina. What a blow if something comes a knocking now.

Yeah, I'm still bitter. Which, I know, is awful, after Katrina.

Don't be too eager to kiss off the season in Texas because a couple of your worst storms (Galveston, Carla) have been September hits.

The way these past two years have gone (including this winter), I'm not ready to count anything out yet.

So true GalvestonDuck! It's been crazy and I'm not letting my guard down until the season is over.

I guess yall can call me a wishcaster...for not wanting one. can you imagine the chaos if one were headed this direction??? the good folks of La really do not need the stress, or to be uprooted again. The shelters are full, where would we all go??? It would be a nightmare, so I am wishing the storms away.

This is not a wise attitude at all. Actually I wouldn't let relate this season to any other season. This has been a season for the record books. I wouldn't let down my guard at all, till Dec 1.

I hope that your Texas cane season is uneventful. You have a lot of refugees from New Orleans to take care of. The last thing any of ya'll need is a hurricane. God Bless ya'll in Texas! I was actually thinking that Florida probably doesn't have that many evacuees and with good reason. Who would want to escape a hurricane season by coming here!

I would say Louisiana has about 1 month left of "high threat" and then after that our season is pretty much over. It was actually a rare event for hurricane Lili to hit this far west on October 3. I won't start feeling better until the end of September but I'm very concerned about what the next few weeks might bring.

Yeah, you guys are right...a couple weeks for Texas and maybe a solid month for Louisiana, and that's about it.

Of course, for Florida - it ain't over 'till it's over.

Given so many records shattered so far this season, Texas should not let its guard down. 2005 is like nothing we have ever seen before, esp. with those monster July storms, and then Katrina.

Anything can happen, but, if you look at the NHC climatology graphics, cyclone hits drop of to virtually ZERO exclusively on the TX coast. Our season effectively "shuts down" on Oct. 1st due to the westerlies. Let's hope it's true this season too.

That area in the SW GOM might give some rain and impacts later this
week possibly.
