I been worried about Ophelia since the season began, something about it just screamed "Major hurricane in the Gulf". Now it looks like that actually has a possibility of occuring.

Ophelia has to be the most awkward name in all of the 6 lists... The only time I've ever heard it was in Hamlet.

My aunt is named Ophelia (or rather, "Ofelia")...

Ofelia is not that rare in Spanish-speaking countries.

Didn't know that! Seems like they would use that spelling then.

have to agree that the name does have a spooky ring to it - hurricane-wise!

Ophelia scares me...

Someone remarked about 6-7 months ago in the "what storms do you think will be big ones" thread that "Don't laugh... in 6 months we could all be talking about how bad Ophelia was"

I hope not...

Refresh my mind, did Ophelia in Hamlet died because she drowned?

what direction would this move if it develops?? Would it slide up the east coast? move out to sea? or move into the gulf? I can't figure this one out.

Yes. I didn't like that name from the first time I saw it on the 2005 Hurricane name list.

From a name search engine

Derived from Greek οφελος (ophelos) meaning "help". This is the name of a character in Shakespeare's 'Hamlet', who eventually goes insane and drowns hersel

Yeah, well We're doing Hamlet here in Boca Raton at FAU --in rehearsals-- and we've all joked that this storm is going to be a probelm for us (ophelia = character in Hamlet!)

Ophelia just seems like a monster of a storm. I hope I am wrong of course but I don't like the name. No offense to those who have love ones named Ophelia. (Of course my oldest daughter is Katrina or Kathryn in English)
