Gen. Honore rips media!

#1 Postby LSU2001 » Mon Sep 05, 2005 1:53 pm

Gen. Honore just ripped the media and used some very strong language he says NOLA is secure and that if they want to help get down on the streets of NO and help quit making issues out of red tape, etc.

Ripped is being polite! A young CNN reporter, I think she was from CNN, found out the hard way what happens when you tick a 3 star general off. What's even funnier is the broadcasters scrambling to "translate" the General's words into political correctness. The best part was when he basically said to the media get off your arses and go to New Orleans see what's going on and help out before you started spreading B.S.!

I loved his response and I agree with his verbiage.

I've liked what I've seen of Gen. Honore so far. Strikes me as both capable and serious.

I have to agree. Instead of reporting which I know they need to do but why don't they do what Shep did~help people.

It beats Nick Robertson standing on the street corner watching the water go down by millimeters. Show him helping to clear the houses or working at a shelter helping people. Show him at a chow line helping to feed people. Thank you General Honore.

Trust me the media will never show an instant replay of that. Nothing they hate more than being dressed down for being stupid.

Maybe we can have the General face off with Geraldo for a few rounds.

I was getting pissed off at the media standing right next to thirsty starving people interviewing them and then blasting the Government for not helping. If the media was so concerned why don't they help by bringing some water and candy bars back from their hotels back in Mobile or wherever they are staying.

The media forgets they are citizens as well and CAN offer help just like anyone.

I plan on helping when they say we can go in and help. For now they are saying stay out of the way.

Yesterday I was watching a helicopter evacuation from NOLA, and as they brought this obviously suffering person to the chopper, there must have been 3-4 media photographers taking pictures right in their faces.

Media makes me ill sometimes. They'll report on how all the people are suffering and where's the help, and in the meantime they have an air-conditioned vehicle stocked with plenty of supplies and equiped with a huge gas station to make sure they don't suffer like the victims.

Since most of them spend not a whole lot more than an hour or two a day in front of a camera, maybe they could all recount what they are doing to help in their spare time.

But the relief effort has to treat them like fragile crystal, knowing that if anything bad happens to them, the media will slander those trying to help in retaliation.

Oh, I forgot. They don't need an excuse to do that.

The general better hope that things go well and there are no major slip ups the media can pin onto him. They have long memories, stick together and can make someone look really bad when they want too. I'm sure he enjoyed dressing down the reporter but I am a bit surprised. One of the rules of combat is to try and not turn neutrals against you.

The media is NOT neutral by any stretch of the imagination. The Military has always considered the media as an necessary evil that keeps getting in their way. Many reporters are Left biased and therefore are deliberately confrontational towards the Military since they hate it.

I wasn't aware that the media were neutrals. The general had the right to dress them down. If they are reporting the news, they weren't asking the right questions, and thus they were not only insulting, they were wasting his time.

If I found something on this guy I would not report it...I know he would hunt that reporter down and dangling him in front of cameras to prove a point...Would not want to be on this guys bad side...This guy might be the only person that really knows what he wants done down there...

Of course he had the right. It just wasn't a smart play for the long haul and generals are supposed to know that. Maybe he will get lucky. We can all watch and see.
