A group of kids in my neighborhood have been out all weekend seeling lemonade as well. God bless em! They are dedicated to bringing as much cash as they can for the evacuees.

Downdraft wrote:A shameless plug for my own guys. The men and women of Florida Task Force 4. A search and rescue team comprised of firefighters from Seminole and Orange counties and the city of Orlando. These guys were in Mississippi the morning after Katrina hit and just came home last night. Also the deputies of Seminole County Florida who are still in Mississippi working to maintain law and order. I told you it was a shamless plug.
Way to go! Mega Pat on the back to you and your team!!

I personally want to command my alma mater, a high school in Houston and a neighboring middle school, which in one day raised $15,383. The two schools were trying to raise a total of $5,000, which I can say they sufficiently shattered. Also to be noted, Houston Texans owner Bob McNair is going to match the $15,383 to all be donated to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Katrina Survivors.

The little boy in this article:
BATON ROUGE, La. — In the chaos that was Causeway Boulevard, this group of refugees stood out: a 6-year-old boy walking down the road, holding a 5-month-old, surrounded by five toddlers who followed him around as if he were their leader.
They were holding hands. Three of the children were about 2 years old, and one was wearing only diapers. A 3-year-old girl, who wore colorful barrettes on the ends of her braids, had her 14-month-old brother in tow. The 6-year-old spoke for all of them, and he told rescuers his name was Deamonte Love.
