I never meant any harm and it seems that ever since I posted this.. a flame war has ensued? I did not want to upset anyone? I just want to help.

Everybody's nerve here is frayed, don't take it personally.

Thanks for doing this, I know your intentions are good. Unfortunately, I can't buy one since my parents probably won't let me. :(

No Worries I changed it thanks to Windy. I was so excited to get this up I did not re-read my title..sorry for the confusion. :(

Don't feel bad, you're trying to do a good thing. :) Just gotta be careful how you do it. While you're not one of them, there are a lot of opportunistic folks out there and a lot of people who (understandably) want to run those folks up a flagpole. Now that the subject is correct, hopefully you'll get some sales and you can send those profits to the Red Cross.

VanceWxMan,

Apparently some of these people think that you are a giant corporate entity that is willing to offer matching funds for donations to a worthy cause, and give them something worth 50 cents on the dollar for free.

What Vance is offering is to give every penny of his profit that he would normally make for selling the poster to the Red Cross. He covers his costs, which is a loss in itself, since he's not making money on doing something else.

I think this is a very fair offer, and it benefits hurricane assistance at the same time.

Aaron (Vance) spent time making this poster which he won't get a penny profit from just for the benefit of the hurricane victims. He didn't deserve this kind of a response, although unfortunately I know there are some incredibly selfish people out there who will try to make money off of this. But he certainly isn't one of them.

Why can't I just give my $10 directly to the Red Cross instead of giving him $10 and the Red Cross only getting $5 of it?

sure it's your choice.. with my way you get a token to remember the storm by, and you get to donate $5.01 to the red cross... but if you want to donate $10 to the Red Cross.. have at it.. Matter of fact here is a direct link for you!

In no way am I trying to STEAL from the American Red Cross or from you. I am just offering you something as a keepsake to remind you that you helped save lives. If you feel like donating all of it to the ARC PLEASE DO they really need it!

Vance...gotcha! Here is another web site with some original art done this weekend, now done in t-shirts. I think anyone can do whatever they want as far as contributing, time money homes goods - Think the poster/poster was just looking for a way to do SOMETHING. I understand the frustration. Wouldn't it be nice to sweep in on angel's wings and fix everything...but it will be a stick at a time, a life every day. Understandably - scams will (and no doubt already are) be in motion.
Sift and sort, but I think the posts that doubted this person's sincerity could have been done privately first. Then, if a scam was uncovered, post it. Anyway - I think this is a cool piece of work, uplifting (and I could use some uplifting feelings, as many could) and the artist seems sincere. Who knows, she may be a Satan worshipper bent on reaping profits at the expense of the laid low - but I don't think so.

Vance, I can access the script directory, http://www.wxchat.com/store/ . You may want to tighten up your security a bit there. At the very least, stick a blank index.html in the directory.

You can and probably should have instead of posting in this thread 6 times, insulting one of the mets here. Your comments were uncalled for.

If you're not interested, move along. If someone is interested in a Katrina poster, they can buy one and the profits go to the American Red Cross. They get a poster and make a donation to the American Red Cross at the same time. If they don't want the poster, they can donate directly to the American Red Cross. It's not that difficult.

Don't forget, also, the sad fact that there are some selfish people in the world who just don't wish to give anyone any money without getting something in return. Many people prefer to buy something and let the seller give the money to the charity. (Not knocking you, Vance, or your buyers and I hope it doesn't sound that way, k? I'm just saying that if some people won't give, but will buy, we should be thankful to you to be willing to turn around and give instead of being like those who make a profit off Katrina, like a handful of Ebay sellers). :) Sheesh, I hope that makes sense.) :)

I look at it this way. Someone may want a Katrina poster. They may go buy one where whoever made it gets all the profits or they can buy one where all the profits go to the RC. Either way they get their poster, but I know I would go for the charity poster first since I get 2 bangs for my bucks, helping people and the poster.

I applaud your efforts! *huggers*
