After reading the thread, adding to it, and then reading more, I am confused.........I don't think one person in this thread has pointed a finger at the Fed. Gov. Seems most of us are in agreement that the people who need to be questioned are within the state gov.
Another thing that has occured to me, after re reading is this:
Since we were able to find and read the evacuation plans, found articles that had been in the local media that many people of NO were able to read ect...... How informed or uninformed was the general population of NO???
I am really trying to see the big picture on this one.
And of course I am going to go with a "what if" for a second here.
What if the "general population" knew bits and pieces of the city evacuation plan???? What if they knew that buses were supposed to pick those up who had no transportation or those who were elderly or ill......
What if the fact that these buses never came, made the general population of these impoverished areas decide NOT take the evacuation seriously?? I can hear granny now, "Honey, if it were serious, we would see the buses coming to bus us all out. This is nothing. Just a real bad storm. They have to issue the warnings just in case" coz of course granny knew the basics that had been put out. Buses would come get those without transportation. She NEVER expected her city and state to let her down.
We have all discussed hurricane preparedness on here. Water, food, batteries, money put up for evacuation, ect.... But these people, if they were aware of the evacuation plans for their area, really didn't expect to have to put money up(if they had any extra to begin with). It was a known fact that many of these folks did not have transportation and utilized the public transportation system.
And taking into consideration that none of us, outside the area, were really aware of this, there are only those within the state that could sholder these responsibilties.......
