Man's Legs Broken When He's Crushed In Trash Truck

CINCINNATI -- A Cincinnati man is hospitalized with two broken legs after he was crushed inside a garbage truck.

Police said the man had apparently been in a large dumpster when it was emptied into the trash truck, which then compacted the garbage.

A woman who lives in the Cincinnati neighborhood where it happened said she was watching TV when she heard someone yelling. She looked out and saw a man crawling out of the trash in the back of the truck.

The truck's driver also heard the shouting, saw the man and then called 911.

Police say the man appeared to be intoxicated when they found him. He was listed in fair condition Thursday morning at a hospital.

Oh my, that poor man! I haven't watched local news today. At first I thought it was going to be a Rumpke driver. We have several fatalities where drivers drive normal speeds around a garbage truck, not even looking for the garbage collector. It's very sad. But this could have been avoided. Was he in the dumpster looking for food maybe?

So sad.
