Based on the 8:05 p.m. NHC Discussion......

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

The following post is NOT an official forecast and should not be used as such. It is just the opinion of the poster and may or may not be backed by sound meteorological data. It is NOT endorsed by any professional institution including storm2k.org For Official Information please refer to the NHC and NWS products.

I'll go out on a shaky limb and predict that Ophelia will not likely veer too far north or east and that she will either make the loop back the SW eventually or meander into the Florida east coast sooner or later.

According to Berg, one of the best Mets, Ophelia's northerly outflow is "shielding her" from the strong ridge that is carrying Nate out to sea. Which means, possibly, that she is starting the create her own environment in a small way.

I just hope that IF she does visit Florida, she will be a minimal 'cane.

Perhaps the TWD (Tropical Weather Discussion). Otherwise I have no idea either. NHC does not issue discussions with intermediate advisories on tropical systems unless its a special advisory.

The tropical discussion that is SOP every 6 hours and talks about the entire tropics. Surely you've heard of that.

Excuse me -- should have said 8:05 p.m. NHC Discussion.

Andrew '92, Katrina '05, Gustav '08, Isaac '12, Ida '21...and countless other lesser landfalling storms whose names have been eclipsed by "The Big Ones".

 Hey Lynn, are you back in the "Sunshine" state? Good to hear from you. Hope Ophelia doesn't blow back across Florida and into the GOM!

Yes, Dixie. Physically we are back. Mentally, I'm still floating around the Carribean!!!

I'm keeping an eye on both systems-you never know!

Disclaimer: 50% of the time I have no clue of what I am talking about. Chances are I am taking a less than educated guess that sounds good because 10 years ago I stole Mike Watkins book 'The Hurricane and its Impact'. For official information please direct yourself to the NHC and their cadre of weather geniuses.
