Any news from ixolib
Any news from xiolib in biloxi. I looked in the check in thread and there is nothing by his/her name. I was wondering if anyone has any news. I distinctly remember him talking about staying in the house because It survived Camile.
Praying for the Best,

I saw a segment on TV of a man and his son who tried to evacuate late from their home in the area of Diamondhead, roughly 5 miles inland, only to find their evacuation route already blocked by flood surge.
They raced back to their home and climbed up on their roof as the surge was closing on them. After the surge swept their house from beneath them, they clung to the remnants of their roof in a flotsam of storm debris for hours in winds of up to around 125 miles per hour until things gradually subsided.
The son said that there was some serious father-son bonding going on there, and I don't doubt it. Amazing story. They estimated the storm surge there from where the bark was knocked of the trees by the debris floating in the surge at 23 feet, and that's five miles inland!
Biloxi was southeast of there along the coast, so there is definitely reason to be concerned.

Ixolib posted a map of where he lived. Also said he lived across the street from the State Bldg in Biloxi (google 1141 Bayview Ave also know as the Bolton Bldg). Using MapPoint Donwood Place and Lafayette Street are the streets across from Bolton Bldg. Looking at noaa's post Katrina Satelite photo http://ngs.woc.noaa.gov/storms/katrina/24334970.jpg the houses generally look intact, but they could of got water. Still praying and looking forward to Iloxib's posts.

I've been calling and calling but I can't get through. I usually get the "all circuits are busy" message or that rapid busy signal. Today I finally reached his cell, but it was his cell phone provider saying he was unavailable. That's the first time I've gotten past the other stuff though. I probably call too much, but I've been so worried. I so want him to pick up and say "hello" each time I try, but no luck so far.
I've searched and searched but I get conflicting reports on his area. Please say a prayer for him. He was riding it out.

YES! As you can see, Biloxi Bay is to the left (north) about 200 yards. My house is the one with the yellow arrow. And the black arrows show where my car, my wife's car (the bright red one), my sister's two cars, my daughter's car, and my son's car were parked to (supposedly) safely ride out the storm. We watched them bob around like bumber cars and finally all went completely under. Of the six, only one survived (my son's truck) to run again. All the others were totaled. I've got a few more pics of the surge as it was coming up that I'll post here too. Our driveway is 30 feet above sea level and we had about two feet in the house, and five feet in the outer buildings (garage and apartment) at ground level. So, it looks to me like about a 35 foot surge here in central Biloxi!! Our house is built on piers about two feet off the ground. Also, all that "grey/brown" stuff in the pic is mud from the bay. It was/is nasty stuff that ended up on and in everything in the house. BTW, the corner of Donwood and Lafayette is about 20 feet NW of my front yard. You did damn good on your detective work!!
